First edition of this collection of six short stories: *Histoire de princes*. – *Trois pauvres diables*. – *Une famille d’aigrettes*. – *La Clause de chaleur*. – *Zib, le chacal*. - A Truly Wild Beast. It forms part of the cycle *La Comédie animale*.
One of 130 copies on Arches vellum, reprinted in the *in-4 tellière* format.
A unique copy, enriched with 50 superb original pen-and-ink drawings in the margins, enhanced with colour, by the wildlife painter and sculptor Georges Lucien GUYOT (1885–1973). The drawings are unsigned, but the artist has written by hand on the title page: ‘Pen-and-ink drawings, enhanced, by Guyot.’
A fine copy bound by the Belgian bookbinder Jules-Karl Van West.
