A deluxe edition of this collection of testimonies on the Cuban-born painter Wifredo LAM (1902–1982), introduced by Alain Jouffroy. The testimonies include those by André Breton, René Char, Aimé Césaire, Michel Leiris, Pierre Mabille, André Pieyre-de-Mandiargues, Benjamin Péret, Tristan Tzara, Christian Zervos, and others.
The edition features a wealth of illustrations, comprising numerous reproductions of the artist’s works – including nine in black-on-black – as well as superb photographs, several of which depict Africa.
Limited edition of 1,000 copies on Ingres Cover Fabriano paper.
This copy is enhanced by an autograph inscription by Wifredo Lam in red pen, accompanied by an original drawing, addressed to the Swedish writer and poet Ingemar Leckius (1927–2011):
