Paris: Au Moulin de Pen-Mur, [1943]. — In-4, 329 x 250: 236 pp., (4 leaves, the last blank), printed cover. Dark brown Jansenist morocco, ribbed spine, framed by a quadruple gilt fillet on the inside, wood-patterned paper endpapers and linings, double endpapers, gilt edges on endpapers, cover and spine preserved (Anne Vié).
An illustrated edition featuring 28 compositions by the painter André COLLOT (1897–1976), including 9 insert plates, colour woodcuts by Bracons-Duplessis.
Limited edition of 110 copies on Lana vellum paper. This copy, one of the artist’s proofs printed in addition to the official series, was presented by Collot to his ‘Friend Raymond’ and bears an autograph dedication signed by the artist on the margin.
A fine copy bound by Anne Vié, enhanced with an original colour drawing signed by Collot covering the entire half-title page, a suite of illustrations in black or bistre on vellum, and one to several proofs on Japanese paper for 21 of the 28 compositions.
Cracks at the hinge of the front cover; scuffing to the corners.
- Enclosed is another copy, in loose sheets, one of 74 printed on watermarked vellum from the Papeteries de Lana, featuring a series of black woodcuts (no. 44). Very well-preserved copy. Reinforced folder and slipcase.
