Description
NDIAYE (Marie). All My Friends. Paris: Les Éditions de Minuit, [2004]. — In-8, 195 x 140: 171 pp., (1 f.), printed cover. Paperback. First edition of this collection of five short stories. ‘In *All My Friends*, a teacher tries to understand why his former pupil has gone to such lengths to forget the lessons he taught her with such passion, and even to forget that he was ever a teacher. *La Mort de Claude François* tells the story of the reunion of two childhood friends, one of whom has remained utterly faithful to the memory of her beloved singer, the other to the memory of her friend’s beauty. In *Les Garçons*, a young man with no particular qualities nevertheless tries to sell himself to any woman in town who will have him, just as has already happened in the neighbourhood. *Une journée de Brulard* is undoubtedly the most harrowing day in Eve Brulard’s life, as she is abandoned on the shores of an enchanting lake and haunted by visions of herself as an uncompromising young girl. *Revelation*, or how a woman who sets out to rid herself of her mentally unstable son realises just how much she will miss him’ (Blurb from Éditions de Minuit). One of 42 copies printed on laid paper from the Vizille paper mills (no. 11), the only edition printed on large-format paper. A perfectly preserved copy.
