A very fine edition published to mark the first World Festival of Black Arts in Dakar, featuring an anthology of African poems drawn from: *Chants d’ombre* (1945), *Hosties noires* (1948), *Nocturnes* (1961), *Elégies, Ethiopiques* (1956), *D’autres chants*, and *Poésies diverses* by Léopold Sédar Senghor.
The illustrations comprise 17 exquisite original colour lithographs by Hans ERNI (1909–2015), including 15 full-page and 2 double-page illustrations.
Limited edition of 225 copies, signed by the publishers and the artist on the colophon. This is one of 123 printed on Arches grand vélin (no. 105).
The copy is in very good condition.
