Jean LONGNON. *La Nouvelle Hélène*. Paris, Plon, undated (1905), large 12mo in full morocco, ribbed spine. In a slipcase. Silk endpapers and inside front cover lined with green leather within a red leather frame featuring fillets and fleurons (binding signed ‘Klein’ and marked ‘Bibliothèque du Comte de Broqua’). Title page gilt. An exceptional copy enriched with a very long handwritten note (72 folios) by Jean Longnon, explaining how and why this volume was conceived and written, dated October 1934, as well as 29 mounted photographs of Jean Longnon, in a small frame, and an explanatory leaflet regarding the above, at the end of the volume, as well as a section of a map annotated in red felt-tip pen, indicating the various journeys lasting several days. One of 50 copies printed on Van Gelder Holland paper. Minor wear to the slipcase.
