Provenance: Guy Yves Jacquet Collection (1931–1991)
Note: This exhibition is based on a collection of images acquired at markets in Morocco and Kashmir, illustrating the imagination and collective memory of Muslim society. The images presented in the forthcoming lots were a real passion for Guy Jacquet, which found its place within his collection. Indeed, these images illustrated a cultural code, a set of symbols recognisable to members of the same community. The subject matter is traditional, featuring holy sites and places of pilgrimage, accompanied by a juxtaposition of images reminiscent of a comic strip, and is intended to be accessible to the public.
