AL WASITI – 13th century (attributed) – BNF Set of 6 framed prints under Plexiglas, comprising colour photographic reproductions produced by the workshops of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. The set is taken from the ‘Maqâmât al-Harîrî Schefer’, as part of the exhibition ‘The 99 Miniatures of Al Wassiti’, organised by Guy Jacquet. 40 x 30 cm; External dimensions: 63 x 52 cm. Signs of wear Note: The Maqâmât al-Harîrî Schefer is a collection of 50 tales or Maqâmât (‘sessions’) written in the late 11th or early 12th century by Al-Hariri. Each story features the narrator Al-Harîth and the hero Abu Zayd, a roguish vagabond who finds himself caught up in incredible adventures.
