Description
Set of 3 colour prints of popular imagery, framed under Plexiglas, depicting: Antar defending his family in front of his beloved Abla; The Sacrifice of Abraham; and Youcef and Zouleikha. 42 x 56 cm (x2) and 27 x 33 cm Signs of wear. Provenance: Collection of Guy Yves Jacquet (1931–1991) Note: This exhibition is based on a collection of images acquired at markets in Morocco and Kashmir, illustrating the imagination and collective memory of Muslim society. The images presented in the forthcoming lots were a real passion for Guy Jacquet, who included them in his collection. Indeed, these images illustrated a cultural code, a set of symbols recognisable to members of the same community. The subject matter is traditional, featuring holy sites and places of pilgrimage, accompanied by a juxtaposition of images reminiscent of a comic strip, and is intended to be accessible to the public.
