First edition (no large paper announced). Famous album on military medicine, a masterpiece of black humour and horror, illustrated with numerous drawings, including 3 hors-texte in colour by Gus Bofa. One of the very first albums by Gus Bofa. The special issue of La Baïonnette of 1 March 1917 entitled Chez les toubibs, illustrated with black and coloured drawings by Gus Bofa, Jean Villemot and Pierre Mac Orlan, has been bound in at the head of the book.
