WILDE Oscar: Two tales. François-Louis Schmied Paris 1926. Collective edition of two tales, Le Prince heureux and Le Rossignol et la rose. Edited by François-Louis Schmied, it is illustrated with 63 compositions drawn and wood-engraved in colour by the artist, including an illustration on the cover and 4 full-page engravings, and a large number of ornamental bands enriching the composition, captioned at the end of the volume. Edition of 162 copies on vellum signed by the artist, this one enriched with an original gouache (23 x 26.7 cm) by François-Louis Schmied for the model of the binding for the two tales, intended for Georges Cretté. Superb binding, in-4, full navy blue morocco, smooth spine with title in palladium, first cover decorated with a composition of gilt and black fillets, grey box lining, silk endpapers, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (binding signed Gonin).
