Description
FERRERAS (Jean de). A General History of Spain. Translated from the Spanish and enriched with historical and critical notes, intaglio engravings, and maps by M. d’Hermilly. Paris: Gisset, 1751, 10 vols. in-4, fawn calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, red edges (contemporary binding). First edition of the French translation. An excellent history of Spain, beginning in the Carthaginian period and ending at the close of the 16th century. It is particularly significant for the medieval period. It is illustrated with an engraved frontispiece in Volume I and 9 maps, 8 of which are fold-out. Bookplate torn off, some wear to the caps, but a fine copy.
