[Continued from the death of Louis XIV to the Peace of 1783, by Antoine-Etienne-Nicolas des Odooards-Fantin, Vicar-General of Embrun]. Paris, Prault the Elder, Prault the Elder Son, Desaint, Saillant, Durand, 1775–1788, 5 vols. small 8vo, porphyry calf, decorated ribbed spine, gilt fillets framing the fore-edges, marbled edges (contemporary binding). The most comprehensive edition of the Ancien Régime, bringing together the definitive text revised by President Hénault and published in the illustrated edition of 1768 (included in the first three volumes), as well as the continuation by Fantin-Desodoards (the last two volumes). A fine copy bearing the bookplate of Mr Terray, Intendant of Lyon. The spines are decorated with a bird-shaped stamp. As the last two volumes were published 14 years after Volume 3, the colour of the volume number is green rather than lemon.
