Description
SAINT-SIMON (Louis de Rouvroy, Duke of). The Complete Works of Louis de Saint-Simon, intended to serve as a history of the courts of Louis XIV, the Regency and Louis XV. With notes, explanations and additions at the end of each volume, drawn from the correspondence and private papers of the author and of several princes and lords of his time. Strasbourg, J. G. Treuttel, 1791, 13 tomes in 7 vols. in-8, plum-coloured half-calf, plain spine with decoration (binding c. 1830).
A rare edition, still incomplete, largely adapted to the style and manner of the publisher, the Abbé Soulavie; this was to be the last of its kind, prior to the first publication intended to be complete, issued in 1829–1830 by General de Saint-Simon.
A fold-out genealogical table. Some copies include a portrait, which is not present here.
