GERARDIN (A.). Designs and sketches for the illustrations of François Villon’s Ballades. Compiled by Lotz Brissonneau. Paris, E. Pelletan, 1897, large quarto, Bradel-style half-maroquin with corner pieces, publisher’s slipcase, slipcase (modern) (Carayon). A collection of original drawings by Gérardin for François Villon’s Ballades. Large original watercolour as frontispiece. Autograph letter from E. Pelletan addressed to Lotz Brissonneau. At the end of the volume are pasted the letters to the bookbinder Carayon providing him with instructions on the placement of the plates, the drying of the illustrations, etc. The edition of the work is enclosed; François VILLON. *Les Ballades*. 70 illustrations by M. Gérardin, engraved by Julien Tinayre. Paris, Eugène Pelletan, 1896, in-5, loose sheets in a printed cream-coloured cover. 1 of 50 copies on China paper, with a suite on China and Japanese paper.
