Description
[HENRI V]. – Publications of the ‘Gazette de France’. The Illness, Death and Funeral of the Count of Chambord. Paris, Imprimerie de la Gazette de France, 1883, in-4, black percaline, plain, unmarked spine, cold-stamped gilt fillet borders on the covers with fleurs-de-lis in the spandrels, title cold-stamped on the upper cover, the arms of France in gilt in the centre of the upper cover, and cold-stamped in the centre of the lower cover (the publisher’s mourning binding). A journalistic and sensationalist account of the death and funeral of Charles X’s grandson. It was on 24 August 1883 that the last male Bourbon of the elder branch passed away at Frohsdorf. Enclosed is the notice of a solemn service in Lyon for the funeral and reproductions of photographs of the funeral procession. Spine damaged.
