Description
FROMENTIN (Eugène). Dominique. Paris, Hachette, 1863, in-8, brown half-basane with corner pieces, decorated ribbed spine (Burkkandt, bookbinder in Besançon). First edition, dedicated to Madame George Sand. One of the few copies printed on Holland paper. A copy from the second printing, in which the error on page 177 (‘en sueur’ instead of ‘censeur’) has been corrected. The book was presented to ‘my friend Bataille’, no doubt the poet Frédéric Bataille. The name of the signatory is difficult to decipher. Slight scuffing to the spine and corners; foxing.
