Description
BAILLY (Auguste): *La carcasse et le tord-cou*. Illustrations by J. Camus. Paris, Editions du Trèfles, 1947. In-4°. Beautiful colour illustrations, both in the text and as inserts, by J. Camus. Loose-leaf, bound in a cardboard folder with a burgundy title on the front cover, featuring a small green clover on the spine, housed in a cardboard slipcase (the slipcase has a small tear). Limited edition of 750 copies, numbered on vellum; our copy, unbound (likely an artist’s proof), features wide margins and the complete set of colour illustrations, as in the first 10 copies. The endpaper is smaller than the pages of the book. A very fine copy. Le Grand-Vaux provides the setting for this novel. Auguste Bailly, born in Lons-le-Saunier in 1878, died in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux in 1967.
