Description
Besançon: The Hundred Days in Besançon, 1815: A collection of 49 official proclamations issued by the civil, military and municipal authorities in Besançon between 8 March and 16 September 1815. They bear witness to the upheavals of history during the Hundred Days, the siege of the city, calls for calm, proclamations issued during regime changes, and measures taken to prevent any unrest. They constitute a rich and rare body of documentation, often scattered and brought together here to help write the history of those troubled times. Large folio volume in a modern canvas slipcase with laces, followed by a detailed list of the contents of each of these proclamations. Also included: Reflections on the Revolution of 20 March 1815, and an account of what took place in Besançon on Sunday 23 July 1815. Besançon, Petit and Cabuchet, 1815. Two in-12 booklets of 47 pp. + 15 pp. Modern Bradel half-vellum binding, with a smooth, decorated spine.
