Champlitte (Haute-Saône) MANUSCRIPT: ANTIPHONARY for use by the parish of Champlitte. Dated 1568. Folio comprising 72 handwritten folios on parchment with illuminated initials, lamp-foot and colophon; text in Gothic script beneath a musical staff of four red lines. Contemporary full calfskin binding, ribbed spine (binding worn). On folio 61, the following inscription can be read: ‘This book belongs to the Parish Council of Champlitte in the year 1719, made by Bonne Drouaillet, wife of the honourable Antoine Barbier of Champlitte, on the seventh day of February in the year one thousand five hundred and sixty-eight’. An exceedingly rare volume.
