Doctorate in Theology awarded in Besançon to Claude-François-Xavier Atthalin on 29 August 1787: A handwritten doctoral degree in theology on parchment, in Latin, richly calligraphed and decorated with coats of arms and floral motifs, illuminated, with traces of a hanging seal. A sheet of parchment measuring 36 x 51 cm with numerous handwritten signatures (Gregorus Bullet). Dated on the reverse 29 August 1787; letters of appointment for Jean Batiste Denis Cretin, priest (folds).
