DUBOIS (Paul-Elie) BENOIT (Pierre): *L’Atlantide*, paintings and drawings of the Hoggar by Paul-Elie Dubois, interpreted as woodcuts by Pierre Bouchet. Lyon, Cercle Lyonnais du Livre, 1934. 1 folio volume of 302 pp. Full caramel morocco binding, spine and covers embossed with geometric patterns of interlaced squares, all edges gilt, interior decorated with a broad embossed band, with a half-moroquin slipcase and case, spine and covers preserved (Creuzevault bookbinder). Printed in a run of 162 copies; this is one of the 25 personalised copies for members of the Cercle, dedicated to Mr Léon Givaudan (co-founder of the Société Givaudan in Lyon), with a series of 43 black-and-white engravings and 11 colour engravings, three dinner menus, each accompanied by a colour engraving, in a half-maroquin cardboard slipcase with flaps (Boichot). A very fine and rare copy, enhanced by an original colour drawing signed by Paul-Elie Dubois on the frontispiece and two handwritten calling cards, one from the Centre for the Study of the History of the Sahara, the other from Louis Barthou, Senator for the Basses-Pyrénées and Minister for Foreign Affairs, addressed to Pierre Bouchet and dated 1934.
