Description
GRANCHER (Marcel-Etienne) MANUSCRIPT: Complete manuscript of the work: ‘From the wines of Henry IV to those of Brillat-Savarin’ by Marcel-E. Grancher (1946). Folio format comprising (1)-41-(1)-41 folios, both sides, in perfectly legible handwritten text in blue ink. Modern half-shagreen binding, ribbed spine decorated with leaves and bunches of grapes (Boichot). This is the rough manuscript, filled with crossings-out, additions and various amendments; a printed strip is pasted onto the first folio: ‘To Mr De Sarete, Knight of the Military Order of St Louis. At his residence in Arbois, signed Rougez, the King’s Counsel at the Presidial Court, from Lons-le-Saunier on 22 November 1779’ (Jura Archives). This manuscript is dated ‘Saint Idesbald-sur-Mer, February 46’. A very rare document in excellent condition, with a dedication by the author: ‘To Henri Maire, without whom our Arbois would be nothing more than what they are! With warmest regards’, signed Marcel Grancher 28/07/60.
