By Perrenin Menestrier, Parish Priest of Courcuire, in the Franche-Comté region of Burgundy, Addressed to Souls who are zealous in the love and service of God. At Pin, by Toussainct L’Ange, Licensed Printer, 1631. Small 8vo, (16)-210-(4) pp. Woodcut vignette: Virgin and Child, in a frame. (Restored title page, margin wear, worm damage in the margins of 9 leaves). Pastiche binding, full calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, double blind-stamped fillet framing the covers, rosettes at the corners, full-cloth slipcase, original contemporary handmade paper covers preserved (Laurenchet workshop). A precious and exceedingly rare edition from Pin, of which only four copies are known to exist in public libraries; the first work by Perrenin Menestrier, parish priest of Courcuire and former parish priest of Pin. A handwritten leaf glued to the first endpaper reading ‘To Auguste Vaillandet of Courcuire, Doctor in Pin, from Constantin the priest’ and, on the title page, the ex-libris of Melles Vaillandet.
