Holy Shroud of Besançon: Jean de Loisy (1603–1660), 1634 (sepulchre type). A true likeness of the Holy Shroud of Besançon depicted by Jean de Loisy, 1634. Engraving in black and ochre on silk, with the wounds highlighted in red. A rare Holy Shroud measuring 28.5 x 42.5 cm, mounted on heavy card (with a few small losses at the margins). Latin inscription: ‘Acceperunt corp jesu et ligaverunt illud etc.’ (They took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in linen cloths with spices, according to their custom, and buried it).
