The Holy Shroud of Besançon: Pierre de Loisy, known as Pierre the Younger (1619–1670), 1660 (tomb-style). Depiction of the precious Holy Shroud of Our Lord Jesus Christ, housed in Besançon at the metropolitan church of that city. Engraving in black and ochre on silk, with the wounds highlighted in red. A very rare and large Holy Shroud measuring 41 x 57 cm, mounted in a modern rigid passe-partout. In the margin: the patron’s inscription in Latin: Nobiliss reverend Julio Chifletto abbati Balernensi ecclesiasticus metropolita Bisuntinae (Jules Chifflet, Abbot of Balerne, Chancellor of the Order of the Golden Fleece) and Latin indulgences.
