First French edition of the decrees of the Council of Trent, in which Gentian Hervet (1499-1584) took part alongside the Cardinal of Lorraine. He has appended a description of the city of Trent and a list of all the participants with their titles and dignities. Although he was associated with Etienne Dolet during his time in Lyon, he was an ardent propagandist against the Reformation and from 1562 lived in Reims. He was approached by the Cardinal of Lorraine to take up a post at his university, which was designed to combat the new doctrines.
