His book contains the names of a large number of famous ladies at the French court and in Italy. Le Fort inexpugnable is not only a panegyric of the female sex, it is also a panegyric of secretaries, to whom the author, himself a secretary, devoted an entire long chapter. Billon also spoke out on the Querelle des femmes and went to war against Rabelais's Tiers Livre.
