Newly translated into French by Order of His Majesty of Great Britain. London, Jehan Bill, 1616. Pet. in-4, (544) pp. signed (A-Z)4, (Aa-Rr)4, (A-Z)4, the last leaf blank, titles in frames depicting the attributes of the evangelists and two allegorical figures, contemporary limp vellum, traces of cordon.
GRIFFITHS (Book of Common Prayer) p. 488, 36.2. ASCOLI (La Grande-Bretagne devant l'opinion française) n°1004. Following with a separate title: Le Livre des Psaumes de David. First edition of Pierre Delaune's translation. Second French edition of the Book of Common Prayer, the first having appeared in London in 1553. Translation by Pierre Delaune. Delaune seems to have come from Normandy and, having obtained asylum in England, was pastor of Norwich church in 1618. His translation was apparently produced for the French congregations established in East Anglia.
