Description
CARRACHE, Augustin et d'autres - 15 plates engraved in intaglio, 12 of which are by Augustin Carrache (Bologna 1557 - Parma 1602) and most of which are taken from his series Les Lascives whose theme was erotic scenes: Orpheus and Eurydice - Nymph, a lover and a small satyr - Satyr seated in front of a sleeping nymph - Susanna and the old men - Venus punishes profane love - etc. The first prints were engraved between 1590 and 1595. Rome ? Venice, c. 1600 and one c. 1635. In-4, 17th c. cold-stamped ivory vellum (Dutch binding).
