FRANÇOIS DE SALES - Introduction to the Devout Life. Last edition. En laquelle le tout a été reveu, corrigé & augmenté d'un Traité intitulé Advertissement aux Confesseurs, par le mesme Autheur. Rouen, Jacques Auber, 1622. In-12, (8) ff, 562 pp, (4) ff, small stains on title, paper a little yellowed, old devotion ms. on title page, contemporary soft vellum, remains of cords.
Edition perhaps unknown. The first was published in Lyon in 1609, quickly followed by many others. Seems to be the last edition published during the lifetime of the author, who died on 27 December 1622, but he had the edition considered as definitive published in Paris by Joseph Cottereau in 1619. (See Oeuvres de Saint François de Sales. Monastère d'Annecy, 1893, tome III, p. XXIII). The Advertissement aux confesseurs appeared separately for the first time in Lyon in 1617.
