Description
GASTON D'ORLÉANS] - Mémoires containing the most important events in France from 1608 to 1636. Paris, Claude Barbin, 1685. In-12, (4) ff, 360 pp, yellowed paper, some light spotting, contemporary brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, title page defr. and faded with loss. SHF n°729. These memoirs, probably written by Algay de Martignac (1620-1698) who took part in all of Gaston's intrigues, begin with the birth of Louis XIII's brother (1608), but quickly get to the details of the plots formed by Gaston or around him and stop at 1636, the period during which he was still heir presumptive to the crown.
