Theodoor van Thulden, (Bois-le-Duc 1606-1669) Flemish painter, draughtsman and engraver, was a pupil and collaborator of Rubens. A series of twenty-four plates depicting the lives of Jean de Matha and Saint Félix de Valois, founders of the Order of the Holy Trinity or of the Redemption of Captives, plus a view of Cerfroid Abbey. The original paintings were intended to decorate the choir stalls in the Mathurins church in Paris, but the ensemble has now disappeared, and Van Thulden's engravings bear witness to this.
