VERDIER, François - Histoire de Samson dediée A Messire Edouard Colbert Chevalier Marquis de Villacerf. Paris, François Chéreau, s. d. (between 1691 and 1699). In-4 oblong, frontispiece and 39 copperplate engravings, captions in french and latin, a few small light stains or oxidations, red contemporary morocco, triple gilt thread on boards, spine gilt, slight wear, a few small stains, ex-libris torn off on counterplate.
WEIGERT (Fonds français) I, p. 107. Dedicated to Édouard Colbert de Villacerf (1628-1699) superintendent of the king's buildings (1691). Title-frontispiece and 39 plates drawn by the painter François Verdier (1651-1730), a pupil of Ch. Le Brun and frequently employed at Versailles, Trianon and the Louvre. The plates were engraved by F. Verdier, Benoît Audran, J. Audran, C. Duchange, J. B. de Poilly and Ch. Simonneau.
