LACHÈVRE II, 129. Contains 254 texts of airs by various authors. In addition to verses by Benserade, Quinault, Segrais, Sarazin, Mme de Villedieu, Boisrobert, Segrais, etc., there are three pieces by Molière: Air de ballet de M. Batiste (2), Récit de Mr. Baptiste. Bacilly, a singing master (c. 1625-1690) from Normandy, became famous for his Remarques curieuses sur l'art de bien chanter (1668). From 1663 to 1667 he published airs à chanter drawn from the Ballard collection and was for many years the official musical supplier to the Mercure Galant.
