FABULA DOCET n°64. First edition dedicated to Louis de Bourbon-Condé (1668-1710). 39 of Benserade's quatrains were used to accompany the fountains of the Labyrinth built between 1672 and 1677 with the participation of Charles Perrault. The oval figures accompanying the quatrains are by Pierre Le Sueur (1636-1716), one of the finest wood engravers of the 17th century.
