It contains 61 new pieces and many of those reprinted have been modified. It is now divided into three parts. He was Attorney General of the Sovereign Council in Chambéry (1600), State Councillor (1612) and President of the Grenoble Parliament (1616). His poetry consists mainly of love verses, including several dedicated to Gabrielle d'Estrée, elegies, odes, prayers and various epitaphs. The fluidity of his verses has been admired, despite a tendency towards mannerism at times. Ex-libris ms. on the title of Gaspard Froment professor of civil law at the Faculty of Valence in Dauphiné between 1610 and 1645: ''Ex Biblioth. Gasp. Fromentii Valent. 1624. dono Authoris.''
