OVIDE - Les Epitres amoureuse d'Ovide, traduites en françois. Nouv. éd. augm. et embellie de figures. Cologne, Pierre Marteau, 1702. In-12, front cover, (3) ff. 447 (1) pp. 21 full-page figs engraved in intaglio, several wormholes, paper a little yellowed, contemporary ivory vellum. First printing of the figs. by Jacob Harrewijn (1660-1727), a pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe. Translation into verse by Jean Barrin (1640-1718) with the Latin text opposite printed in italics. The publisher claims to provide the most complete edition of this collection of fictitious letters attributed to mythological heroines such as Ariadne, Penelope, Dido, Helen, Briséis, etc.
