David, 20, 36, 14, 13 pp. (1) f., paper a little yellowed, some light spotting and russetting, garnet calf, spine ribbed and decorated.
TCH V, 706. First edition. The first of Scarron's great burlesque poems, which he dedicated to Mazarin but did not receive the recognition he expected. Its subject is the revolt of the giants against the gods of Olympus led by the giant Typhon. The gods were overcome by such panic that to escape him they disguised themselves as animals or vegetables.
