It is well known that the Memoirs of d'Artagnan are the main source of Alexandre Dumas' novel The Three Musketeers. Nevertheless, as the author claims to have drawn on the papers left by d'Artagnan, they remain a source of information for studying feats of arms from the time of Richelieu to 1673. There is also information on court intrigues at the beginning of Louis XIV's personal reign, and on Fouquet's arrest, which was carried out by d'Artagnan.
