FERNANDEZ, Jeronimo] - The History of Dom Belianis of Greece. New translation. Paris, Toussainct du Bray, 1625. In-8, (6) ff, 1038 pp, (1) f. slightly yellowed paper, marbled fawn calf, triple gilt thread on covers, coat of arms in centre, spine ribbed and decorated.
LOSADA GOYA n°205. LEVER 193. First edition of Claude de Bueil's translation of Belianis de Grecia, published in Burgos in 1547. It follows on from the Amadis de Gaule. De Bueil only translated the first book, Du Verdier published the rest (three other books). With the arms of the Comtesse de Verrue (1670-1636) duchess of Savoy, famous for her salon and her collections of books and objets d'art (OHR pl. 799).
