MANCINI, Hortense] - Mémoires de M. L. D. M. Cologne, Pierre du Marteau, 1675. In-12, (1) f., 222, 22 pp. (letter), inscription on title, contemporary brown marbled calf, spine ribbed and ornamented, headpieces remaining.
WILLEMS 1892. SHF n° 828. LEVER 263. Attributed to Hortense de Mancini, niece of Mazarin, who is said to have written her memoirs with the help of Saint-Réal. Justification of her adventurous life. She preferred to run away rather than associate her life with that of a whimsical husband. The story ends when the Duchess settles in Chambéry, the town where she met both Saint-Réal and the Duke of Savoy. The following letter contains a portrait of the Duchess.
