Description
CHORIER, Nicolas - Les Sentimens de l'honneste Homme. Paris, Antoine de Sommaville, 1642. In-4, (4) ff, 107 (1) pp, yellowed paper, some light spotting, russ, one corner missing without loss of text, ivory vellum with flaps.
First edition unknown to Rochas and Arbour. A second version appeared in Paris in 1648 under the title : La Philosophie de l'honneste homme pour la conduite de ses sentimens et de ses actions. Second work by Chorier, author of a monumental Histoire du Dauphiné (1661-1672). A lawyer at the bar in Vienne, he was commissioned by Pierre de Boissat to carry out various missions in Paris in 1640, 1641 and 1647. While there, he made friends with the capital's leading lights and frequented its libraries.
