Louis Dorléans (1542-1627), a lawyer at the Parliament of Paris, was for a long time the spokesman for the League before rallying to Henry IV. In most of the work, after recalling the king's obligation to render justice, he describes the role of the Parlement, the matters dealt with there, the time when it opened, the magistrates' ornaments, etc. Each of these is followed by a separate title.
