Description
ADAM, Lambert-Sigisbert - Collection of Ancient Greek and Roman Sculptures. Time discovers the ruins of the palace of Marius in 1729 (Frontispiece). (Paris, Joullain, 1755). In-4, frontispiece, table and 62 copper-engraved plates by Defehrt, Le Mire, Tardieu, Chevilet, Fonbonne and others after drawings by L. S. Adam, lacking the title, several small perforations in the upper margin, several small stains, contemporary mottled fawn calf, spine ribbed and decorated, headpieces and corners remain.
COHEN 3. The marble sculptures in this collection come largely from the cabinet of M. le Cardinal de Polignac, uncovered by Sr. Adam, sculptor. (Rel. à la suite :) 18 pl. grav. sur cuivre : approx. 145 X 225 mm (4) , approx. 140 X 190 mm (9), approx. 125 x 180 mm (5). Pastoral scenes, most engraved by Jan Visscher, after Nicolaes Berchem (Haarlem 1620 - Amsterdam 1683). They show shepherds accompanying various domestic animals: donkeys, horses, cattle, goats, dogs and sheep. Four of them also offer a panorama of the countryside.
