WEIGERT V, 210-234. GLASSER (Costumes militaires) pp. 171-172. Nicola Guérard (c. 1648-1719), a pupil of François Chauveau, established himself in rue Saint-Jacques, where he specialised in engravings of fashions, scenes of manners, moral episodes and proverbs. The plates depict scenes from military life preceded by various assignments: Trumpeter and timpanist, Drums, Fifers and oboes, Bodyguards, Gendarmes, Chevau-légers, Musketeers, and so on. The following plates: Troupes de ligne, Infanterie and Cavalerie, and finally the last plates depict scenes of camps, marches, winter quarters and battles.
