MMF 75.11. GAY I, 663. DRUJON, pp. 222-223. As Miss de Rohan's lady-in-waiting at Panthemont, she was able to observe life in town and at Court and to write this novel in which several important characters and several fairly recent events, poorly disguised and ridiculed, were recognised. The work was seized and every last copy was bought back. Mlle d'Albert was put in the Bastille, where she was able to leave thanks to the credit of Mlle de Rohan.
