LONGUEVILLE, De - Lettres de M. de Longueville, écrivain public, à Monsieur ****. Amsterdam et se trouve à Paris, chez les Libraires qui vendent les nouveautés, et à la Loge de l'Auteur, 1777-1778. 2 parts in one vol. in-8, (2) ff, XXIV, 78 pp, heavy russeting, paper a little yellowed, contemporary marbled fawn calf, spine ribbed and decorated. The author was a friend of Grimod de la Reynière and left another work in which he comments on the works of J. J. Rousseau. He expresses himself on all sorts of subjects and gives details of the small world that surrounds him on the Place Royale. When human reason is two or three centuries older, it will be understood that it is possible to stop brigandage, without men taking a man's life with the suffrage of the Laws''. (Letter XIV).
