Paris, Denis Thierry, 1657. 8vo, brown morocco, covers embossed with a pattern of fleurs-de-lis, central medallion with a crowned ‘L’, spine decorated with fleurs-de-lis, gilt edges, modern edged slipcase (contemporary binding). 14 leaves, 798 pages, (2 leaves of errata and privilege).  First edition of this chivalric novel by the verbose Gilbert Saulnier Duverdier (Paris?–1686). Portrait of the Duchess of Mercœur engraved by L. Spirins after Beaubrun and two unsigned full-page illustrations.  A copy in a luxurious binding. It comes from the libraries of Amédée Rigaud, with an ex-libris bearing the motto ‘Bona fide sine fraude’; the Argentine lawyer Eduardo J. Bullrich, with an ex-libris; and Jacques Millot, with an ex-libris.
