BREMOND (Gabriel). *Hattigé, or The Love Affairs of the King of Tamaran*. Short story. Cologne, Simon l’Africain, 1676. Small 12mo, brown morocco, gilt lace lining, gilt edges (19th-century binding). 3 folios, 89 pages. First edition? of this oriental novella dedicated to the Count of Saint Alban. Gabriel Brémond was born in Toulon and died in Messina. He resided in The Hague from 1680 and was imprisoned there from 1693 to 1698. He served as French Consul in Jerusalem and later in Messina, where he died.  A fine copy. Lever p. 180 – Cioranescu I, 16387 (different collation).
